Deputy Minister of National Defense of Turkey, Muhsin Dere, made very important statements from Pakistan. "With the MILGEM project, Turkish defense industry will break its own record." Dere said.

After the handover ceremony of the sea supply vessel (PNS Moawin) in the city of Karachi, Dere, who had official calls in the capital city of Islamabad and Ravalpindi, gave his assessments to an AA reporter.

Highlighting that the 4 MILGEM corvette sales project signed with Pakistan is the largest defense industry export after PNS Moawin's sale, Dere also added “With the MILGEM project, Turkish defense industry will break its own record. Two out of the four MILGEM Corvettes that are going to be produced will be built in the Karachi Shipyard. This way, Turkish engineers and designers will be able to instill shipbuilding and designing skills to the Pakistan Navy. This is a very important information transfer for our Pakistani brothers."

After his meeting with Pakistani Naval Forces Commander, Zafer Mahmud Abbasi, and Defense Production Minister, Zubeyde Celal, Muhsin Dere said “Efforts are underway to strengthen the strategic cooperation with Pakistan. The new Pakistani government is extremely keen to carry its relationship with Turkey to the next level.”

Two agreements were made in July between Pakistan and Turkey in the field of defense. According to the agreements, 4 MİLGEMs will be sold to Pakistan, but the construction of two ships will be carried out in Pakistan. According to the other agreement, 30 domestically produced T129 Atak helicopters will also be sold.
