ASFAT founded to contribute to defense industry, economy and export capacity by utilizing the means and capabilities of 27 military factories and 3 naval shipyards under the body of The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) and managed with private sector dynamics, has been contributing to Turkish Defense Industry development and export capabilities.
According to the statement by MSB, ASFAT which was established on 12 January 2018 offers joint production and design solutions.
ASFAT that has objectives of modernization of military factories and shipyards as well as capacity development, is a state-owned company and is being managed with private company dynamics.
ASFAT, whose capital is fully provided by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and whose management rights belongs to MSB and which can make “government to government” agreements, aims to expand the cooperation to meet the defense industry needs of the friendly and allied countries more effectively and efficiently.
ASFAT which signed the contract with Pakistan including the procurement of 4 MİLGEM corvettes in order to realize one of the biggest exports In July 2018, aims to expand defense sector volume.
Visit of Minister Akar
Minister of National Defense Mr. Hulusi Akar visited ASFAT this week. The Ministers who gets information on the current works, pointed out that works are in progress to increase the success of Turkey in the defense sector, to focus on export and to adapt to international competition in the sector.
Minister Akar also stated that one of the most important outputs of these works is ASFAT, that the company’s statue to be able to export directly from the “government to government” and also being the only address for foreign countries to purchase directly from in the field of defense industry, makes ASFAT stronger.
